What to Expect When We Paint Your Kitchen

When Expressions Interiors come to paint your kitchen…

We realise it can be daunting when you don’t quite know what to expect, so to put you at ease, here’s a breakdown of what happens when we paint your kitchen.

First, we will have our first meeting together. Here we would prepare an estimate and talk through what ideas and design you want to achieve. We will then show you some samples of our colours and the finishes we can achieve. If you would like to look at examples of our work to get some inspiration this meeting is a great time to look through and discuss if any catch your eye.

We will then need to go away and prepare a quote for you, once you have accepted the quote I will come and see you to pick colours and arrange a date to start the work on your kitchen.

Before we start on your kitchen we will need you to clear all your cupboards and draws out, this enables us to do any taping up that’s needed and to clean our any dust created from us preparing your kitchen.

The next job would be to take all the handles off and give the kitchen a good clean with a de-greasing agent. I know you will have probably done this before we start but we do it just to make sure we have a clean surface to work with. We then fill any dints or cracks, rub down and prepare where necessary and vacuum any dust. Then we are ready for some paint!

If your kitchen is oak or pine: We will start with a coat of primer, this gives the cupboards a key for the eggshell paint to go on.

If your kitchen is already painted: This means we can go straight to using eggshell.

Once the preparation is done we usually give it two coats of eggshell then a de nib, using sandpaper between coats when paint is dry.

Once we’ve finished painting we can then carefully remove any tape around the cupboards and when fully dry put the handles back on.

Depending on the size of your kitchen this would take three to five days to complete.

Each day, when we have finished, we will leave your kitchen clean and tidy so that you can use it when we have gone.

Each member of our team is highly skilled in painting kitchens and furniture and we have an enormous sense of pride and passion in what we do, so you can be assured that your kitchen is in good hands.

Our aim is to give you a beautiful looking kitchen that you can be proud of with a completely stress-free experience.
